New Business Help - CPA

My cousin sent me this email, I own a business but I sell products, not services so much of what has worked for me may not apply.
Please let me know if you have any clever advertising ideas for an Accounting business. She is mainly looking to pull in business accounting work and stay away from personal taxes. However, she is good at personal taxes and knows that she will be doing some to start to keep some cash flow.
Hello Everyone,
I would kindly like to ask each of you for your time and assistance. I apologize for the mass email.
As most of you are aware, I started my own business this August. Now I graciously would like to ask each of you for your advice…and who better to ask than people who know me!
I write to ask each of you for your suggestions on your great marketing ideas, website wants and needs (meaning if you were to visit a CPA’s website, what would you like to find – thinking outside the box is great!), how you like to be approached or addressed by a business, speaking topics, and anything else you feel is important or you want to get off your chest!
Please know how grateful I am to each of you for your valuable time, thoughts and energy!
Thank you in advance for any offerings you may have.

RE: Wisconsin Fall Rally - October 10th - 12th.

Hey guys, I am looking at hosting a guy's campout with 5 guys from work.
Looking for places to go within 1-2 hours of Madison. It would be nice if the campground was more adult oriented and noise was less of an issue if you know what I mean :)
Any suggestions would be great!
Have you given thought to using one of the nice state parks in the area? They're typically quieter with more secluded sites for a good male grunting campfire? Oh yes, let's not forget during this male bonding; If you hear banjo music RUN! :E
I actually meant that noise (music, male grunts, etc) were less of an issue eminating from our campsite. I would like to keep the ranger visits to a minimum :)

RE: Shared water toys etiquette?

Having a camper I'm really not too concerned about friends that come with sharing in my costs of owning the camper. I have those costs anyway. I do appreciate it when they throw in a 20 to cover some of the additional gas that I burned to bring them a nice bed but it isn't necessary as I would be doing that anyway for my bed.
I have a few friends with a boat and they feel the same way, they aren't worried about passengers making the payments on the boat. However, they don't invite passengers back very often that don't share in the operating (gas costs, overnight slip fees) costs. When we go out on our friends boat we always give them money equal to 1/2 the gas cost or if we are going out multiple days we pay to fill it up one of the days.

RE: Options on a built-to-order TT

Not knowing the costs of the options makes it harder to assess the worth.
1. Tinted Safety Glass Windows
- I didn't order these but sometimes wonder if I should have, a window broke in our old trailer and the tint would be nice at times?
2. Exterior hung glass (Huh? What is that?)
-No idea here.
3. Aluminum wheels IPO steel
-I got the Aluminum wheels, I don't see too many trailers greater than 3 years old with Steel wheels that aren't rusty.
4. Rear ladder
-I got this, it is nice to have a ladder if you need to get on the roof at the site.
5. Electric awning
-I used to not like my electric awning, but I am more used to it now. I wouldn't choose a trailer based on it but I wouldn't pay extra for one either.
6. heated/wrapped holding tanks (TT underbelly is not enclosed, so they offer insulated holding tanks as an option)
-I got this option because I like to camp in the spring/fall
7. Slider windows replace fixed on slide ends
-I have these in my camper and it is nice to get the cross breeze.
8. Outside grill
-I have this, I use it every trip and it is handy, but it's not the greatest grill in the world. Works though.
9. Step light
-I would get this, very nice to see the steps.
10. Front window with rock guard
-I would pass on this, we have one and never open the rock guard.
11. 15M BTU AC IPO standard 13.5M
-I got this option, I like how fast the trailer cools, it will run on a 20 amp cuircut.
12. 21 inch range IPO standard 17 inch
-I don't cook inside so I would pass on this, I would rather have the counter space.
13. Dinette access doors (on ends of dinette, so you don't have to remove cushions to access storage)
-With the number of kids you have it would be nice to use the storage under the dinette. I had these on my old campers and have drawers now. It is nice to put commonly used items inside the door and then less used under the seats.
14. Porcelain toilet (IPO plastic, I assume)
-I would have ordered this option if it was available.
Now the caveat to the above is that I planned on keeping my camper for a good long time. (Until the kids outgrew the bunks, oldest is 3 now). I ordered extra options to be sure we would be happy longer :)

RE: Clear as mud

The info that you listed in your post is good information for someone that has never towed a trailer that wants to be as safe as they can be. Now as you get more experience towing trailers you can safely tow more trailer as long as it is within your vehicle specs.
Just remember that a shorter wheel base denali isn't going to have the footprint to control a trailer like my crew cab long box truck. Also, remember that the 8000 lb towing capacity is with a 150lb driver and 1/2 a tank of fuel or so, anything you add reduces it.
All of the above said, use the guidelines you read along with the knowledge of your skills to make a decision.

Wisconsin Family Campers

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone knew of any camping clubs in Wisconsin that had younger families. My daughter is just about 3 and loves to play with kids her own age. We currently camp a little over every other weekend, over 30 nights a year. We mostly camp with our friends that have a 3 year old boy that have a pop up.
Also if anyone is near Madison, WI and would like to camp let us know.
Thanks!

RE: Electrical cord hook-up to Truck

My plug receptacle has a spring loaded dust cover over it. The plug itself has a notch at the top of it that the dust cover hooks over keeping the plug in place. As a result, I have never had the problem you mention. If yours is made the same way, just make sure you are pushing the plug in far enough where the cover catches the plug. If that is not the problem, then maybe the plug itself is just worn out and needs to be replaced.
Ditto.
Me Too, but after having the spring go bad in one and losing brakes on a hill I use a ball bungie to hold the dust cover down tight to the cord. Just wrap it around the plug and cover.

RE: My nightmare with Callen Campers

I would normally say no way, but it looks to me as if this company can be trusted. If you do decide to let them build it I would think that a fair discount would be a price to $5000 and a contract that shows that you have paid $2400 and a pickup date. If you do decide to let them build it be sure it is on paper, that way they have to back it up :)
I think that it would be the right thing to do, they have showed honesty by coming on here and admitting their mistake...

RE: how long is too long

I have a 33' travel trailer and there are some sites that I know that I couldn't get into. However, our camping changed from mainly state parks to mainly parks with pools when we had our daughter, she LOVE to swim.
If you get any sized trailer it will limit where you can park in the NP/SP's, some are only tent sites :) Sometimes you won't be able to get in because of height, sometimes length and sometimes the roads are so tight that you can't swing enough to back in :)

RE: Traction Off Road

Yep you the only time you want to dig is in snow because you need to get to the pavement in snow. Any other time and you want to float. That said if you have decent off road skills I don't see why you couldn't take one onto a dirt road, but you would want it to be a road, not truely off road.

RE: opinions of forest river

I am on my second Forest River camper. I have had the factory send me parts to my house at no cost, out of warranty. All in all I think they are a good value for the money. You can buy better quality, but do you need it? I think the price/value proposition is very good. However, I also expected to clean up some things they should have and am handy enough to fix most issues with it.

RE: How loud is basement A/C ?

:h huh, so far not one owner of basement air has had any critical remarks. Seems like all the complaints are coming from non owners.
That's because the non-owners are the ones that have heard all the noise. They put them on the curb side for a a reason, to keep the noise away from the owner. I have camped next to one and it was annoying. Thank goodness it wasn't all that hot out and it cycled on and off. I would avoid a coach that had one because I wouldn't want to worry about annoying my neighbors. I am sure there are good ones and bad ones but I looked at the one I camped next to like this.
It was like him having a contractor gen and putting it on the curb side of the camper and saying see it's no louder than a honda when the owner is sitting on his patio!
